About
The Director
Mahesh
Manjrekar is currently the busiest director in Bollywood. With his
maiden directorial attempt "Vaastav", Mahesh
Manjrekar found a place in the good books of many in tinsel-town.
The
film's box-office success catapulted him overnight onto the vantage
point where he could realize his artistic ambitions without cowing
to the pressures and the complexities of commercial cinema.
Today,
Mahesh is the apple of every producer's eye. With the films that
are an intelligent and healthy mix of art and commerce, this young
director has infused a semblance of sensibility in our kitsch-ridden
mainstream cinema. He himself writes the story and screenplay of
his films, and the range of his subjects is broad
and eclectic.
Kashmakash
This is a thriller starring Suniel Shetty, Juhi Chawla and Pooja
Batra and directed by Priyadarshan. Set amidst the tea
plantations in scenic Ooty, India, Kashmakash is a story of revenge,
intrigue, and love. Vishal (Suniel Shetty) is hired by a wealthy
estate owner to take care of his mentally unstable daughter Anjali (Juhi
Chawla). After bringing an element of normalcy to Anjali's life,
they get married, after which Vishal, a convicted murderer, tries to
kill her. Anjali, who is close to normal by now, survives and the
plot starts to unravel. After some twists and turns, everything gets
sorted out with Vishal confessing his true love for Anjali.
Originally from the South Indian film industry, Priyadarshan shot to
fame in Bollywood with his feudal drama "Virasat" in
1997. His comedy film "Hera Pheri" was a huge hit at
the box-office.
